Following heavy rains due to the north east monsoons, a flood alert has been issued in the low lying areas of Tamil Nadu .
Heavy rains have led to an overflowing of dams and reservoirs in the state’s Erode and Tirupur Districts.
The intense rainfall has left a trail of destruction in many parts of the state. Farmers at Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur have also suffered, as rain water has flooded paddy fields.
