Shimla: Himachal Pradesh will be once again get connected by air with the commencement of service by a private carrier from Thursday.
“The IIC Technologies Ltd would commence its passenger service (Air Himalays) between Shimla, Kullu, Chandigarh and Dharamsala from June 9,” a government spokesperson said today.
Urban Development minister Sudhir Sharma will launch the air-service by flagging off a flight from Jubbar Hatti airport near Shimla.
He said the company will operate daily flights between Chandigarh and Kullu, Chandigarh and Shimla, Shimla and Gaggal, Gaggal and Shimla and Shimla and Chandigarh.
This will not only provide air connectivity to the state but also boost tourism, he added.
Air services from Shimla airport has been suspended for past 44 months and Airport Authority of India has spend Rs 32.25 crore to maintain the airport.
Meanwhile, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has requested Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to support the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
PHDCCI National President Mahesh Gupta, who called on the Chief Minister today, elaborated about the benefits of GST to the state and briefed him about the role played by the PHD Chamber in the promotion of trade, industry and services in the region.
Gupta said the PHD Chamber has been working closely with the Himachal Pardesh government as a partner in progress and emphasised on the promotion of tourism, horticulture and creating a investor friendly environment the state to boost economic growth.
