Flight delay leads to postponement of DCL exams

The written examination for the post of Degree College Lecturers scheduled on Sunday had to be postponed following the delayed arrival of question papers.

According to the Andhra Pradesh State Public Service Commission, the question papers were scheduled to arrive on Saturday. However, the papers were not received on Saturday and were dispatched by flight on Sunday morning. But the flight which was scheduled for landing at Hyderabad early morning was delayed. In addition, part of the question paper consignment booked was off-loaded at the point of dispatch by the airlines due to heavy load in the aircraft. This consignment was booked on the next flight, which has arrived at Hyderabad only around 11.00 am.

Under these circumstances, the Degree College Lecturers examination could not start as per schedule at 11.30 am.

Meanwhile, hundreds of candidates who came to the eight examinations centres started protesting and demanded that the exam be postponed. Following their request, the APPSC postponed the exam to a later date.

While expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to the candidates, APPSC chairman Rachel Chatterjee said that the next date for the exam would be announced shortly. (INN)
