Flight cut short

Mumbai, July 09: Rahul Vaidya of Indian Idol fame was detained for a couple of hours at the Bangkok airport on June 28. The reason? His frequent visits to the city. Rahul explains, “I have been making at least eight to ten trips to Bangkok every month because of several shows I do there. It is nobody’s business to check the number of times I visit any place and detain me.” Vaidya was waiting for his visa on arrival at the Bangkok airport when the authorities started questioning him. The perturbed actor elaborates, “I am too young for them to believe that I can afford so many trips. Secondly, there is a law that one needs to carry at least $100 along to get a visa on arrival. I avoid carrying cash as the organisers are looking after my expenses. But I had my credit cards in place.” Though his efforts to convince the authorities were in vain, Vaidya’s laptop saved him. “The two hours detainment became entertaining when I showed them my footage from the

previous shows in the city. A while later, my organisers called to sort the matter and I was finally relieved.”
