The police busted a sex racket run from beauty parlours, arresting nine sex workers, including two pimps, at Nirjuli and Naharlagun, near here.
The arrests were made in a joint operation by personnel of the Nirjuli and Nahalagun police and personnel of the Itanagar women police station on Tuesday, a police official said on Wednesday.
The police posed as customers to trap the sex workers and apprehended those running the racket, SHO of the Itanagar women police station C N Bui said.
Two of the arrested have been remanded to five days’ police custody and another five in judicial custody while a pregnant women, involved in the trade, has been given bail.
A minor has also been detained temporarily.
Seven of the arrested are from neighbouring Assam.
