Hyderabad: The Kachiguda police today arrested five people, who committed theft of 80 Air-conditioners along with compressors from 41 ATM centers under the limits of 23 Police Stations of Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates.
The police recovered 75 Air-Conditioners along with compressors, all worth Rs 15 lakh from the accused and also seized an Autorickshaw and two bikes, which were used in commission of the offence.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Ahsan Rahman alias Faisal, 18, a student of SS Junior College at Santosh Nagar; Syed Akram, 20, a student in ISO Junior college, Tarnaka, residing at Santhi Nagar, North Lalaguda, Secunderabad; Mohammed Adil, 19, AC Mechanic, of North Lalaguda; Mohammed Ismail alias Ashu, 21, Degree first year student of Jagruthi Degree College, Malkajgiri and resident of North Lalaguda and Mohd Wazeed Khan alias Wazeed, 20, Auto driver of Lalapet Chaman, Tarnaka.
Police said they received a complaint from ICICI Bank on January 8, 2018 at 15.30 hrs about theft of two ACs along with compressors from ICICI Bank ATM, and another 2 ACs along with compressors from SBI ATM located opposite Aqua Hotel, Kachiguda. They received another complaint about theft of ACs from ATM of Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Sri Raghavendra Tiffins, Barkatpura.
The Kachiguda police nabbed all the five accused, who gathered at Kachiguda Railway Station under suspicious circumstances today. The accused confessed to their crime. Mohammed Ahsan Rahman alias Faisal was the brain behind the theft of ACs from ATM centers where there was no security guard and implemented the same with the help of his accomplices.
They lifted 80 ACs from 41 ATM centers pertaining to various banks in Hyderabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates viz. Kachiguda, Nallakunta, Saidabad, Malakpet, Chaderghat, Amberpet, Lallaguda, Tukaramgate, Narayanaguda, Saifabad, Ramgopalpet, Rein Bazar, Mirchowk, Chatrinaka, Chandrayanagutta, Kanchanbagh, Santosh Nagar, Madannapet, Mailardevpally, Saroor Nagar, Balapur, Malkajgiri, Uppal, in day time by possessing them as AC Maintenance people, since first week of December 2017, and stored 71 ACs at a Godown belongs to one Yousuf of Noor Agency, Fateh Darwaza, to whom he promised to provide 100 ACs by January 15, 2018, by introducing himself falsely as he got contract of collecting old ACs from ATMs. The accused was caught along with four ACs while transporting them to the godown in an auto at Kachiguda Railway Station today.
