Five militants killed in gun battle with Afghan Army

Kabul : At least five militants were killed and 11 others injured during a fierce gun battle with the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces in Afghanistan’s central Maidan Wardak province.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the clash between the two erupted during a clearance operation in Chak district, reports Khaama Press.

The operations were conducted as part of Badr Operation of 203rd Corps of the Afghan National Army, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense.

In addition, four motorcycles used by the insurgent group members were also destroyed during the operation.

Meanwhile, the anti-government armed militant groups, including the Taliban insurgents, have not yet commented regarding the report.

The Ministry of Defense said that a Taliban insurgent, who was wounded during an airstrike by coalition forces in Hesarak district of Nangarhar province, was arrested by the Afghan Army .

A child was injured after a mortar round fired by the militants landed on a residential house in Geyan district of Paktika, the statement added.

In the meantime, the Afghan Armed forces also discovered eight Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during separate operations conducted in Khost, Paktika, Logar and Maidan Wardak provinces. (ANI)
