Rayagada (Orissa), December 15: Five Maoists were arrested and a large number of explosives and weapons recovered from them in Orissa’s Rayagada district today, police said.
The rebels were held during a combing operation in Kalyansinghpur police station area of the district, DIG (South-West Range), Saumendra Priyadarshi told reporters here.
The explosives and weapons included two landmines, crude grenades, a pistol and a large number of live cartridges. Four radio communication sets, booklets and posters were also seized from the ultras, two of whom were aged below 18 years, he said.
The five, who belonged to ‘Bansadhara’ group of the Maoist outfit, were engaged in luring youths in rural areas to join the outfit, the DIG said.
