Five killed in road mishap in J-K

Jammu, January 15: Five persons were killed and 41 injured, some of them seriously, when a mini-bus skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today.

The accident took place at Pranu, about 180 kms from here, in Doda district around 10 AM, police said, adding three persons died on the spot.

All the 43 injured were initially referred to district hospital at Doda. However, 15 seriously injured were later airlifted to Government Medical College hospital here, of which two succumbed to their injuries, police said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his grief over the accident.

The Minister for Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon also visited GMC to enquire about the condition of the injured.
