Lakhimpur (UP), May 20: Five persons, including two women, were killed and five others injured when a tractor trolley overturned and fell into a pit in Dhaurehra kotwali area, police said here today. The incident occurred late last night near Mailapurwa village when the victims were returning to their villages from a market in the city, police said.
Those killed were identified as Ajeez (25), Srinivas (20), Anuj Jaiswal (15), Anita Devi (35) and Sunita Devi (40), they said, adding the injured were rushed to the hospital by the villagers.
Tractor driver Siya Ram Gautam (36) was depressed after the accident and allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling.
