Norway, July 05: All five passengers of a helicopter have been killed in a crash after the aircraft struck mountains west of Norway.
The aircraft — an Aerospatiale 350 — crashed before 8 p.m. on Monday in a remote area at the bottom of the Hardanger fjord, east of Bergen.
“We can confirm that all five people onboard died,” local police chief Oeystein Torsnaes said, adding that it remained unclear what had caused the crash, AFP reported.
“The investigation is ongoing,” he said.
The police could initially find only three bodies but discovered the two remaining bodies after search operations.
The rescue team had not been able to search for the wreckage immediately due to the intense heat.
The aircraft was operated by the private Norwegian company Airlift, which handles charter flights.
Authorities have established a no-fly zone around the area where the crash took place.
