Five kids among nine killed in Mumbai medical store fire

Mumbai : At least nine people, including five children, were killed and two sustained severe burn injuries in a fire at a housing medical store in Juhu galli in Andheri west earlier today.

“Eight people have declared dead by the Cooper hospital. One is critical and the other is out of danger. We have got the call regarding the fire at around 6:30 in the morning. The Fire tenders reached the spot immediately after the information,” said Assistant commissioner of police Arun Chavan.

Electric wiring, electric installation, medicine storage and a lot of household items from the first and second floors were damaged.

The following is the names of persons declared dead by hospital authorities:

1) Saburiya Mozin Khan aged 52 years

2) Siddik Khan aged 35 years

3) Rabil Khan aged 28 years

4) Mozhel Khan aged 8 years

5) Unnihay Khan aged 5 years

6) Aliza Khan aged 4 years

7) Tubba Khan aged 8 years

8) Altaz Khan aged 3 months old.

According to reports, an electrical short-circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire. (ANI)
