Five held for possessing one million US dollar notes

Hyderabad: The L.B.Nagar SOT of Rachakonda has arrested five persons, who were in possession of fake 1 Million US $ note, which were stolen from captain’s cabin of a Merchant Ship and were trying to sell it in open market. The SOT has seized one Million US $, certificate of the dollar, gold coated authentication coins, four cellphones from their possession.
The accused were identified as Puli Anil Babu, 22, working in Merchant Navy and R/o Gandhi nagaram, Gangireddypalem, Machavaram Guntur,
Chandra Bhushan Birua, 32, working in Merchant Navy R/o Diva East Mumbai N/o Gandhinagar east Lane No.4 Hazaribagh Jarkhand, Rayankula Rajendra Prasad, 30, of Yerrapalem (v) Valdurthy (m) Guntur, Pabbathi Venkatesh, 29, Auto driver of
Subrahmanya colony Badangpet Meerpet and native of Venkatapur (v) under Talakondpally mandal of R.R. district and Pothuraju Nagaraju, 24, B.Tech student of Rayappagaripally village under Mydukur mandal of Kadapa district.
Police said the accused A-1 and A-2 were working as seamen (OS) in Transport Merchant Navy. One year back during one of their trips, they happened to chance upon a pouch in the captain’s cabin containing one Million US $ along with its certificate and coins. They committed theft of the pouch and kept it in their possession. Later, they browsed International Association of Millioners Website and got all the details about the one Million US $. Then they came to know that the one Million US $ in their possession was a fake one. However, since many people do not know about it, they wanted to exchange the one Million US $ for huge amount and were on lookout for prospective customers.
During their efforts, they met A-5 Nagaraju, who happens to be friend of A-1’s brother. When Nagaraju came to know about the US $, he contacted his friend A-3 Rajendra Prasad and told them about the one Million US $. A-3 Rajendra Prasad contacted his friend A-4 Venkatesh and told him about the US $ and he asked them to bring it to Hyderabad. All the persons came to Hyderabad on Tuesday evening and stayed at Saibaba lodge at Dilsukhnagar.
This morning, they gathered in the lodge and were making plans to find suitable customers for exchanging the one Million US $. However, on a tip-off, the L.B.Nagar SOT along with Saroornagar police raided the lodge and nabbed the accused and seized one 1 Million US $ currency note, one Certificate of Authenticity of US dollars, one Gold coated US dollar validate square plate, one Gold coated US dollar validate triangle plate, four Mobile Phones.
This raid were conducted by under the supervision of K.Narsing Rao, Inspector I/C SOT, Rachakonda by M.Kashi Vishwanath Sub-Inspector and staff of SOT, L.B.Nagar, Rachakonda and S.I Srinivas Reddy of Saroornagar P.S (NSS)
