Sabarkantha, August 10: Five members of a family including three children were killed after head-on collision between a Tata Sumo and a truck in the Modasa taluka of the district today, police said.
Six others were injured in the incident which took place near Gaajan village of Modasa, where a Tata Sumo carrying a family returning from Ajmer and going towards their native in Nashik in Maharashtra, collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, they said.
According to police, four people died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries during treatment at the government hospital in Modasa.
The six injured are being treated at the government hospital, they said.
Those dead have been identified as Yusuf Pathan (55), Naseembanu Salim Umar (55), Mohammad Abdul (4), Shamima Adil (6), Ahmed Abdullah (13), police said.
A case has been registered against the truck driver who was absconding after the incident and further invesitgation are on, they added.
