Hyderabad, August 06: Five policemen, including an inspector, were today placed under suspension after a man detained in a theft case died in the custody of Cyberabad police here, a senior officer said.
L B Nagar inspector N Mahender, sub-inspectors Ravi and Ranjeet Kumar, and constables Saibaba and Srinivas have been suspended after Janardhan (32), died in the custody of L B Nagar police yesterday, he said.
“We are serving suspension orders on them. They have been placed under suspension pending further investigation,” L B Nagar DCP in-charge B V Ramana Kumar told PTI.
Ramana said the action was initiated due to their “negligent” attitude during the investigation. “The SHO left the matter to two probationary SIs. They could have taken the advise from the ACP concerned or other senior officers.”
Janardhan and his accomplice were picked up from Golconda yesterday for their alleged involvement in cheating people.
