Hyderabad, November 26: Five school children less than 10 years of age drowned in a lake at Mahbubnagar district yesterday.
Students of 4th standard went to the lake for bathing after playing in a ground when a boy slipped in water and started drowning. His friends tried to rescue him but in vain. Four other students too drowned in an attempt to rescue their friend. However two other students managed to get out of water.
Bodies of the five children have been retrieved. The dead were identified as Tirupati, Shiva, Vijay, Venkatesh and Santosh and they are aged between 9 to 10 years. Police told this.
