Fit-again Serena eyeing Australian Open glory

Johannesburg: World number one Serena Williams has said that she is ready for the first major of the season, Australian Open, after maintaining that she is recovering well from her knee problems.

The 21-time Grand Slam champion revealed that she was feeling much better now as she had a good training session, Sport24 reported.

Talking about her strategy for the upcoming tournament, Serena said that she would try to keep herself as relaxed as possible, insisting that she was well aware of the things that needed to do on and off the court in order to win big tournaments.

Earlier, the 34-year-old was forced to withdraw from the last week’s Hopman Cup in Perth after playing one set due to inflammation caused by bone-on-bone contact.

Serena, who had earlier missed both China Open and the WTA Finals in Singapore after her US Open defeat, won three Grand Slams in 2015 namely the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon.(ANI)
