Congress MLA K Lakshma Reddy on Saturday stated that the Congress candidates suffered defeat in the Telangana by-elections as the Centre failed to announce a decision on Telangana statehood.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Lakshma Reddy said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana could not be held responsible for the debacle. He condemned senior leaders’ demand for Kiran Kumar Reddy and Botsa Satyanarayana’s resignations owning moral responsibility for the defeat of party in the by-elections.
Lakshma Reddy said that all first time MLAs would support the leadership of Kiran Kumar Reddy and his welfare schemes and development programmes implemented for the benefit of poor and middle class people. He said the first time MLAs would make efforts to mount pressure on the Congress High Command to achieve the separate Telangana state. He hoped that the high command would take a favourable decision on Telangana state to revive party’s position in the region. (INN)
