President of Congress Ms. Sonia Gandhi is consulting the leaders of the three regions in the state. There are rumours that Hyderabad will be made Union territory or the formation of Rayal Telangana.
It is expected that CM and APCC President will reach New Delhi today. Mr. Vayalar Ravi spoke to the leaders of Seema Andhra region at the residence of Mr. K. S. Rao, Congress MP whereas Congress leaders of Telangana met Union Petroleum minister Mr. S. Jayapal Reddy yesterday. Ms. Sonia Gandhi is worried about the poor performance of the Congress candidates in the recently held by elections in the state. Telangana issue is of prime importance for her for the stability of Congress. Party sources indicated that after taking a decision on Telangana, Jagan’s issue will be easier to deal with. Despite presidential election activities, Ms. Sonia Gandhi commissioned state Congress leaders to New Delhi to review the latest political situation in the state.
She is eliciting the opinions of the State leaders. Congress sources revealed that Ms. Sonia Gandhi wants to resolve Telangana issue. Congress Party has two issues before it. Hyderabad will be made a Union Territory and Andhra and Rayalaseema regions will be separated Rayal Telangana will be formed.
Congress Party has formulated a strategy. Congress high command wants to get the opinions of state Congress leaders before exposing its strategy. Congress Party is trying to elicit the opinions of the others parties also to assess which decision would be better for the party.
Congress leaders are being asked whether TRS would join Congress in the event of formation of separate Telangana state. Sources indicated that most of the Andhra leaders are opposing separate Telangana. They would agree for separation from Telangana if Hyderabad is made a Union Territory. They are of the opinion that if separate Telangana is the compulsion of the center, it may form Rayal Telangana. Telangana leaders are demanding to form Telangana state with Hyderabad as its capital.
Their contention is that Congress didn’t succeed with integrated Andhra State and TRS has grown stronger in Andhra region. In the same manner, TRS has gained victory in all the by elections with separate Telangana slogan. Congress leaders of Telangana are also raising their voice for separate Telangana.
Due to the anti Telangana statements of Seema Andhra leaders, Congress is losing people’s confidence. Leaders of Seema Andhra and Telangana are firm on their stands. Congress High Command is trying to satisfy the Congress leaders of both the regions.
