Hyderabad, August 16: The sudden death of a businessman at the AP Chest Hospital here today triggered rumours of swine flu death, even as the doctors and Principal Secretary (Health) L V Subrahmanyam denied the same.
There is no truth in the rumours as the clinical and radiological reports indicated that the death was due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Dr S V Prasad, Medical Superintendent, AP Chest Hospital –a centre to treat influenza A(H1N1), told PTI.
36-year-old Umesh Agarwal died due to multi-organ failure after going in final stage of ARDS, Subrahmanyam added.
Giving details about the health history of Umesh, the official said he was suffering from cough and cold for the past fortnight besides during this period he had gone to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on a business trip. His condition deteriorated while returning to Hyderabad by train.
