Aam Aadmi Party in the Old City had its first public meeting, in Malakpet constituency, on Wednesday who sought to give power to the common man and ‘take back power concentrated in the hands of public representatives’.
The not much but zealous gathering had party members, many of whom were civil society activists, pointing out that ‘democracy was not the norm’ in the 48 wards of the Old City.
“For 60 years contractors and brokers have been seen in Parliament. Where is the commoner? Where is the democracy?” asked AAP state campaigning committee member Venkat Reddy.
It is interesting to know, while the meeting witnessed empty seats around 8.30 pm, by 9 pm curious onlookers and passersby at a snail’s pace gathered to listen to the speakers.
