First look of New Rs 100 denomination by RBI

The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) will soon release the new note of  Rs 100 currency, the Central Bank said in a press release. The color of the new currency note will lavender. And all Rs 100 banknotes issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will also continue to be legal tender.

The new Rs 100 note will have the impression of Gujarat’s Rani-ki-Vav (Queen’s stepwell) on the reverse side which is located in Gujarat. Its a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The note includes other designs and geometric patterns aligning with the overall color scheme on both sides.

 

The dimension of the new Rs 100 note will be 66 mm × 142 mm,” the RBI said in a press release. The dimensions of the current Rs.100 note is 73mm X 157 mm. The printing and supply of these notes for distribution to the public through the banking channel will increase gradually.

And for those who are visually impaired, the new note features “raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, raised triangular identification mark with micro-text 100, four angular bleed lines both on the right and left sides”.
