Malda (WB), October 15: The first batch of BSF woman constables today took charge at Mahadipur in Malda district of Indo-Bangla border.
DIG, Malda range of BSF, P S Tomer said the woman constables were recruited to frisk and search the belongings of women intruders in border areas.
It was difficult to search the belongings of women intruders due to lack of woman constables, he said.
Six constables each joined work at Malda and Murshidabad sectors, he said.
One thousand woman constables were recruited in BSF for deployment in Indo-Bangla and Indo-Pak borders
