Makkah: Fire broke out at a hotel in the holy city of Makkah on Monday. Around 570 Umrah pilgrims from different nationalities were evacuated following the incident, the Saudi Gazette reports.
The fire broke out on seventh floor of the 14-storey hotel building on Ibrahim Al Khalil Street. The Civil Defence operations centre rushed to the scene upon receiving the information and extinguished the fire, spokesman of the General Department of Civil Defence in Makkah Maj. Naif Al Sharif said.
According to Maj. Naif Al Sharif, one disabled occupant of the hotel was injured whose condition is said to be stable now.
An investigation is under way to identify the causes of the fire, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
