Fire in jungles near school, none injured

New Delhi: A fire broke out in the jungles near a school on Mandir Marg here today, following which the children were evacuated from the school as a precautionary measure.

A call was received around 11.56 AM about a fire in the jungles near Harcourt Butler Senior Secondary School, a senior Delhi Fire Services officer said.

Eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the blaze. It was brought under control after two hours, he said.

The officer said since the fire had broken out near a school, the children were evacuated to protect them from the smoke. No casualties or injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is not known yet. It is suspected that someone might have thrown a burning cigarette, he said.
