Hyderabad, February 14: Fire broke out at two places in Hyderabad, one in a private shaving blade manufacturing unit and another at a scrap yard, gutting property worth several lakhs of rupees. But no casualties or injuries were reported in both mishaps.
The first mishap took place in a unit of Malhotra shaving blade manufacturing company at Balanagar around 7 am.
Some employees noticed flames and immediately alerted the fire services department.
Two fire tenders from Secunderabad and Sanathnagar rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after an hour of fire fighting. Officials suspect short circuit behind the mishap.
The fire at a waste paper godown at Balkampet was reported an hour later. Police said passersby noticed flames and alerted the fire services personnel.
The fire was brought under control in an hour. Police suspect a carelessly thrown lit cigarette butt might be behind the fire.
