Fire in chemical factory leaves 3 dead

Hyderabad, May 16 (INN): Fire broke out in a chemical factory at Jeedimetla on Sunday leaving three persons dead and injuring six others.

According to police, the fire ravaged the Durga Enterprises burning to death Swamy, Narasimha and Raju.

Of the six injured, two are said to be in a critical condition. The intensity of the blaze charred the bodies so badly that identification was impossible.

The injured were rushed to the nearest hospital where they are being treated for burns.

The loss of life could have been higher since 16 workers were present in the factory when the fire started, but they managed to escape.

The fire erupted with a loud bang. The cause of this explosion is still unknown. Seven fire engines were pressed into service to bring the inferno under control.

The chemicals stored in the factory are making the fire personnel’s job hard and they are still trying to gain control over the blaze.

Senior officers say that severe action is being contemplated on factory’s owners for flaunting safety norms and operating the factory without proper licenses.

Some officers present at the site of the accident were taken into custody.
