Fire breaks out at GDA office

Ghaziabad: A massive fire broke out today in the Ghaziabad Development Authority’s (GDA) office that gutted property worth Rs 20 lakh, an official said.

Four fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.

It is suspected, that the incident occurred due to a short circuit in the lobby area out the vice chairman’s office, thereafter it spread into the waiting and meeting hall area, sources said.

Officiating vice chairman of the GDA, Ravinder Godbole, has ordered a departmental inquiry to know the actual cause of fire incident.

He said no records were damaged.

Prima facie it is believed that inadvertently some staffer left the air conditioner on, resulting in the wires heating up and catching fire.
