Fire breaks out in Chandni Chowk

New Delhi: A fire broke out in a three- storeyed building in Kinari Bazaar area of Chandni Chowk today.

There was no injury to anyone in the fire.

A call was received about the fire in a building located behind Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib around 1.02 pm, an officer of the Delhi Fire Services said. As many as 22 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

The blaze, that spread across the three floors, was brought under control by 6.40 pm.

Ten people, who were stuck on the top floor of the building, were rescued by firemen before the blaze could spread to it, said the officer.

The firemen had to put a ladder between the gurdwara and the building to rescue the people.

There were bangle and jewellery boxes kept on the ground and first floors of the building, said the officer. The extent of damage was yet to be ascertain.

Fire department officials said that the firefighting operations were slowed because of congested lanes.
