FIR registered over attack in Quetta FC office

Quetta: A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Saturday at a counter-terrorism department police station over the foiled terrorist attack at the Frontier Corps (FC) Madadgar Centre in Quetta.

The police said that the FIR has been registered under the name of an FC constable, Abdul Shakoor, just a day after the attack took place, Geo TV reported.

“The case includes sections on murder, attempted murder and anti-terrorism,” police said.

On Thursday, five suspected terrorists tried to ram an explosive-laden vehicle into the security premises of the FC Madadgar Centre.

Following this, security personnel sprung into action and gunned down the terrorists. A motorway police officer, Mohammad Idrees, who was wounded in the gunfire, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

According to eyewitnesses, they heard multiple explosions and sounds of sporadic gunfire.

The area where the attack took place is mostly residential, with a few government buildings located in the vicinity.

As per a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attack was in response to the killing of the chief of the terror organisation Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) in Killi Almas in Balochistan on Thursday.

Also, two suicide bombers were killed and one terrorist was injured, who was later arrested by the security forces.

During the operation, a Pakistani army soldier, Colonel Sohail Abid was killed, while four others were injured.
