FIR registered against Dubai employer for abduction

Hyderabad: An FIR was registered on Saturday after an employer in Dubai demanded Rs.14,000 riyal from a woman to return her sister, who was allegedly sent to Saudi Arabia by a local agent in Hyderabad to work as a nurse.

Asima Begum, sister of the victim Asra, alleged that a local agent promised the latter the job of a nurse in Saudi and later compelled her to work as a maid.

“My sister Asra Begum went to Dubai in November 2016. A local agent in Hyderabad promised her that she would work as a nurse in Dubai and her employer would pay her Rs. 30,000 per month,” Asima Begum told ANI.

“But after going there, we came to know that three agents have taken Rs. 3,60,000 from the employer to send my sister as a house maid,” she added.

The family appealed to Sushma Swaraj seeking help in this matter followed by a police complaint, which was registered with the Nampally Police Station.

Speaking on this issue, Additional Commissioner Crime and SIT, Swati Lakra said, “We have registered the case and our team will be taking strict action against the agents.”

She further asserted that Look out Circulars to the airports have also been issued against the agents who were absconding.

Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjadullah Khan said, “Agents from Hyderabad target widows or poor women and send them to Arab countries by taking a huge sum of amount from employers there. The women face a lot of problems after going there.”

“Muslim political and religious heads should start an awareness programs on this issue, and police should take strict action on the agents,” he added.
