Mumbai, November 30: The police registered an FIR against actor Salman Khan, his bodyguard Shera and five others at Kanpur’s Kakadeo police station for allegedly assaulting anti-corruption activist Omendra Bharat, an ex-IIT-ian and chief general secretary of Jan Rajya Party.
Khan was in Kanpur on August 24 for the promotion of his film. Anti-corruption activists had crowded around Khan’s vehicle to present him a Gandhi cap and request him to join their agitation when they were allegedly beaten up by Khan’s personal security staff.
Jan Rajya Party activists later lodged a complaint with the police seeking action against Khan and his bodyguards but no FIR was lodged. “A case has been registered against Salman, his bodyguard Shera and five others,” investigating officer Anup Yadav told.Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Piyush Pandey had recently ordered the police to register a case under appropriate sections of IPC and start a probe following a complaint filed by Bharat.
