FIR against two Maulanas for ex-Hindu Mahasabha leader’s murder

NEW DELHI: A day after the alleged murder of former Hindu Mahasabha leader, Lucknow police has registered an FIR against two Maulanas from Bijnor.

After the assassination, Maulana Anwarul Haq the then Imam of Jama Masjid in Bijnor and Mohammed Mufti Naeem Kazmi are under scanner.

Wife of Kamlesh Tiwari, (45), the head of the Hindu Samaj Party had registered a complaint against these two alleged that they had threatened to kill her husband.

Blasphemy By Tiwari

In 2015, Tiwari allegedly made objectionable remarks against Muslims and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in response to the Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan “homosexuals” remark.

Tiwari faced the wrath of scores of Muslims for allegedly making derogatory remarks. He was arrested on charges of hate speech and the National Security Act (NSA) was slapped on him.

The same year, Maulana Haq had allegedly announced a Rs 51-lakh bounty for beheading Tiwari in Deoband, Saharanpur.

FIR Against Maulanas

An FIR  under Sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 120-B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the IPC was filed on the basis of the Tiwari’s wife complaint.

However, a senior police official clarified that Maulana has not been arrested. Avinash Chandra, ADG Bareilly Zone clarifies, “Maulana Anwarul Haq has not been arrested, investigation still underway”.
