New Delhi: A 23-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar area, leading to a protest by her relatives who blamed her “already married” husband for the incident and demanded his arrest, police said today.
Kajal had allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside her house yesterday. She had taken the extreme step after finding that Ankit, with whom she tied the knot last year, was already married to another woman, said a police officer.
The relatives of the deceased today blocked traffic near Mother Dairy plant in Pandav Nagar area by placing her body on the road and demanded arrest of her husband.
Later the police and administrative officers reached the spot and assured action against the guilty after which the roadblock was lifted, the official said.
Kajal had met Ankit at a telecalling centre where she worked and both got married in November last year, the officer said.
Kajal’s relatives have alleged that after finding that she was cheated, she approached police but her complaint was not filed.
Police is investigating the matter and trying to trace the accused, who has gone missing, added the police officer.
