Find ways to slash expenditure on farming: Vice-President

Hyderabad: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today stressed the need to slash expenditure on Agriculture to boost income of farmers in the country.

Speaking at 14th Annual Award Function of Rythu Neshtham at Swarna Bharat Trust at Mucchintal under Shamshabad mandal of Ranga Reddy district, the Vice-President suggested reduction in input expenditure for cultivation by various means of good agricultural practices, including organics agriculture. The farmers should be taught to use less pesticide and make the products healthier. “Agriculture means nature. Love nature and live in nature”, Naidu said and called educated youth to involve themselves in agriculture.

Venkaiah Naidu said mothers always serve food to their children while a farmer produces food grain feed people. The farmers are equivalent to mother, who always serves food to her children, Naidu said, adding that farmers’ development is country’s development. He also listed out various farmers welfare schemes initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country.

The Vice-President inaugurated a free health camp at the trust organised by Asian Institute of Gastroenterology. He advised the doctors to educate people about the preventive steps of any disease while giving them treatment. “Our changed eating habits always welcome various diseases”, he observed.

Later, the Vice-President presented “Rythu Nestham” awards to 44 people, who were working in the field of agriculture. AP former minister Kamineni Srinivas and BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy were among those attended the function. Later, Venkaiah Naidu left for Visakhapatnam to pay last respect to MVVS Murthy, who died in America recently.
