New Delhi: An aggressive Congress Party on Saturday said it is the incumbent NDA government’s duty and responsibility to find a final solution to the repeated violations of Indian territory by Pakistan’s armed forces.
Lauding the Border Security Force (BSF) for eliminating seven Pakistani Rangers in the Hiranagar area of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid said, “The BSF has done a good job and it has done what is required of it and what it believes is its duty. But the fact will still remain that repeated violations of our space and repeated attacks from across the border are very regrettable, and the government will have to ensure that we find some final solution to this. What that will be, we will have to wait for the government.”
“I don’t know how an account is made or a head count is made of people who are killed in this kind of action, but I assume that there must be some methodology. If the BSF has done this job, we have no reason not to accept it. As I understand, there is some confirmation of this also on the Pakistani side, because their some news channels are running that some rangers have been killed,” he added.
In reply to a sniper attack by Pakistani Rangers, the BSF had on Friday launched an aggressive offensive firing of small arms and area weapons at 9.35 a.m., killing one militant and seven Pakistani Rangers in the Hiranagar area of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, the BSF said that on the intervening night of October 19-20, BSF troops foiled an infiltration bid in Bobiyan village of Hiranagar Sector in Jammu, in which one militant was killed; whereas, in the same area, Pakistani Rangers today targeted the BSF domination along the International Boundary, in which one BSF Constable Gurnam Singh received a bullet injury.
The constable was evacuated to the Jammu Government Medical College with the cover fire, however, his condition remains to be critical.
The BSF said the forces are on high alert all along International Boundary and ready to foil any infiltration attempt.
Confirming it, BSF Inspector General D.K. Upadhyay said “The firing from the Pakistani side spread over to the Kathua region and further to area opposite Pragual. BSF retailed the fire of the Pakistan in the most befitting manner. And ultimately, it has been reportedly learnt, since we have hit many rangers, seven of them have been killed, while one militant, day before intervening night, was already dead,” Upadhyay told ANI.
He said weapons like 60mm mortar, 82 mortar, MMGs, LMGs, AK-47 was used by the Pakistani whose main target was Constable Gurnam, who displayed combat audacity.
“It is the most befitting reply given to them. They began and we gave the reply, if they will again do this kind of misadventure proper reply will be given to them that they will remember,” he added. (ANI)
