Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader KVP Ramachandra Rao said that the financial package for AP would not suffice the needs of the state and that only special status would meet the massive developmental needs of Andhra Pradesh.
The Congress leader said that the BJP led NDA government was least interested in granting SCS to AP and this was evident from the fact that the Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitely who had sought special status for AP for 10 years during the introduction AP Reorganization Bill in Parliament did not even allow voting on the Private Bill seeking SCS for AP now.
It seems the TD chief is happy with the financial package for the state and this will only be beneficial for Chandrababu Naidu, Rao remarked. The promises made for AP in the Bifurcation Act should be implemented accordingly, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, APCC chief Raghuveera said that the Centre was not releasing the funds on time for national projects like Polavaram and this was hurting the interests of the state. (INN)
