Financial assistance to Minorities for study abroad – Request to implement from 1st July – Zahid Ali Khan

Govt. of Telangana has formulated a scheme on the lines of Ambedkar Vidya Nidhi Scheme of Central Govt. for providing financial assistance to students belonging to Minorities for their study abroad. Govt. of Telangana issued GO Ms. Number 24 on 19th May 2015 and allocated Rs. 25 crore for this purpose. As per the GO this scheme would be implemented from 1st August 2015.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily requested the Govt. to implement this scheme with effect from 1st July 2015 since most of the talented students belonging to minorities have already sought I-20 from various American Universities and they have to report on 1st August which is the beginning of first semester. He also requested the CM to release the grant in one lump sum.

This scheme provides financial assistance to the extent of Rs. 10 lakh by the Govt. with a loan facility of Rs. 10 lakh from the banks. The students should have passed GRE/GMAT, TOFEL/IELTS and should posses a record of securing more than 60% marks at graduation level.
