According to information furnished by Mr. Ghyasuddin Babu Khan, Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable is providing financial assistance to widows below 30 years for meeting the educational expenses for their children. Financial assistance is given to them after conducting a survey in villages and districts. This year, 4500 school children of 3000 widows were provided financial assistance. In the first phase of the program Rs. 27 lakh was distributed to 975 widows. In the second phase assistance will be given to 2000 widows belonging to Rayalaseema and Coastal districts. A sum of Rs. 25000 is given to widows who get remarried. Such of the widows who are in a position to work, interest free loan is given.
