State Minister of Social Welfare of Karnataka Mr. H. Anjayya told that 50, 000 students will be given financial assistance under vidyasree scheme. Such of the students who do not get hostel facilities are eligible to get financial assistance under this scheme. Last year, 20, 000 students were given financial assistance at the rate of Rs. 1500 per student. In this way, Govt. of Karnataka spent Rs. 30 crore. This year Rs. 75 crore will be spent to benefit 50, 000 students. He also informed that 1.25 lakh students got admission in various hostels. Financial Assistance will be deposited in the bank accounts of such students who did not get accommodation in any hostel.
