The suspense over statehood to Telangana region is likely to be over before the Monsoon Session of the Parliament beginning August 05.
The process of consultations over the Telangana issue is now over, and the Congress’ top leadership seems to be in favour of creating a separate state.
“The consultation process is over. Now you should await the decision of the party and the UPA government,” was all Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh had to say to waiting reporters after the Congress core group meeting on Friday evening.
The final call on the issue, festering for the past many years, will now be taken by the party’s highest decision making body, the Congress Working Committee (CWC). Albeit the date for the CWC meeting is yet to be decided, it is believed that it will be held before the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning on August 05.
