Film chamber seeks hike in ticket prices

Hyderabad, March 09: Movie tickets might get costlier soon, if the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce (APFCC) has its way. The APFFC has proposed to hike the movie ticket prices from the existing Rs 50 to Rs 70 in individual cinema halls for high-budget movies.

A delegation of the APFCC called on Chief Secretary SV Prasad here today and made a representation with regard to the increasing cost of movie production. He sought permission to hike ticket prices for high-budget movies.

Earlier, for selected movies ticket prices were hiked for the first two weeks. But the system was scrapped following protests by small film producers.

The APFCC members are also learnt to have requested the government to expedite the process to bring offences related to piracy of movies and music under stringent laws that impose severe penalties.
