Film aspirant held for making nagging calls

Hyderabad, January 07: A Young aspirant to film career was arrested yesterday for making mischievous and abusive calls to a popular Telugu film artiste.

Ravi Kumar (26) of Visakhapatnam, who did M.Sc in chemistry, had been continuously making telephone calls and sending abusive SMSes to Tollywood’s popular comedian MS Narayana and his son Vikram for the past 20 days. A disgusted Narayana approached the Jubilee Hills station on January 4 and lodged a complaint giving out the various telephone numbers from which the accused had been calling him.

“Ravi Kumar, who dreamt of becoming an actor, was never received properly by many people of the film industry.

This made him furious and started abusing people belonging to the film industry by calling them,’’ police said.

Acting on the complaint, police laid a trap by asking Narayana’s family members to tell Ravi Kumar that he would be introduced to important film personalities if he came to Jubilee Hills on Tuesday. An unsuspecting Ravi Kumar came to the city from Visakhapatnam but was nabbed by the police soon after he reached Jubilee Hills.

“Ravi Kumar purchased 10 different SIM cards and had been calling Narayana and Vikram,’’ Jubilee Hills Inspector Narsing Rao said.

Police are probing how he had access to the phone numbers of Narayana and his family members.
