The CM said since major irrigation projects are coming up in the State utilizing the due share of the State in the river waters and funds were also kept for the Irrigation sector, proper systems should be kept ready to supply water to the farm sector. The Public representatives should work hard to get every farm land in their jurisdiction should get water and for this they should be after the officials. The CM made it clear that under the old Karimnagar district each and every acre of farm land should get the water. He suggested that there should be a special lift irrigation project should be set up at Yellampally to lift water to 20,000 acres under Ramagundam area. He wanted that a reservoir should come up at Pattipaka in Dharmaram Mandal to supply irrigation water to Pedapalli, Ramagundam, and Mancherial, Dharmapuri Assembly segments. The CM said for these two projects the government is ready with the funds. He wanted SRSP capacity should be increased, repair works to be carried out on all the canals and every inch of land under the Ayucut from the nearest to the tail end of the ayucut should get water.

“We are constructing a barrage at Medigadda after Pranahita flows into Godavari for the Kaleswaram project.  It is said that there is availability of 1700 TMC of water there. Barrages and reservoirs are being constructed to utilise this water. The Public representatives should ensure that this water reaches the farmlands and monitor the works in their areas. The Bachawat tribunal in 1974 had categorically stated that Telangana had 265 TMC share of water in Godavari and Krishna rivers. But due to neglect and discrimination under the united AP rule the entire tanks systems was destroyed and water could not be utilised. Now with major projects are coming up in the State, there will be availability of water and an action plan should be implemented to fill up all the tanks,” the CM advised. (NSS)
