The International Women’s Day on Thursday witnessed an ugly spar between two groups of women Congress leaders in Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of Pradesh Congress Committee.
A section of the Mahila Congress leaders owing allegiance to Mahila Congress president Ganga Bhavani organized a felicitation programme for some prominent women at Prakasam Hall, Gandhi Bhavan. This has angered the other group of Mahila Congress led by PCC general secretary Rajini Reddy, who rushed to the hall and created a ruckus at the meeting.
“I am a Dalit woman. How can you organize a meeting without my knowledge? Why didn’t you invite me and other colleagues like Tripurana Venkata Ratnam and Padmaja Reddy? Who is Ganga Bhavani to ask you to organize the meeting?” Rajini Reddy shouted at the others.
Interestingly, those organizing the meeting were all from Praja Rajyam Party and this has added further fuel to the fire.
“How can those who defected from the PRP take control of Gandhi Bhavan? They should learn the system in the Congress party,” the rival group shouted.
This led to heated exchange of words between the two groups, making the Women’s Day celebrations completely ugly.
