New York: Another woman has accused Roy Moore of sexual misconduct when she was 16-years-old, the fifth and most brutal allegation levelled against the Alabama Republican Senate Hopeful, the media reported.
The new accuser, Beverly Young Nelson, told a packed news conference here on Monday that Moore attacked he was a prosecutor in Etowah county, Alabama, reports The New York Times.
“I tried fighting him off, while yelling at him to stop, but instead of stopping, he began squeezing my neck, attempting to force my head onto his crotch,” Nelson said.
The incident took place at night after her shift ended at a local restaurant, where she was a waitress.
She said that Moore warned her that “no one will believe you” if she told anyone about the encounter.
Nelson’s statement follows a Washington Post report last week that the Moore had had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl and pursued three other teenagers decades earlier when he was in his 30s.
She was represented at the news conference by Gloria Allred, a lawyer who has championed victims of sexual harassment.
Moore’s campaign in a statement described Allred as “a sensationalist leading a witch hunt, and she is only around to create a spectacle”.
It denied “any sexual misconduct with anyone” by Moore.
However, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Majority Leader of Senate, declared: “I believe the women,” reports The New York Times.
Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado, the head of the Senate Republican campaign arm, said that the Senate should vote to expel Moore if he wins “because he does not meet the ethical and moral requirements of the United States Senate”.
Moore responded by saying that refused to quit the race and stated the person who needed to step aside was McConnell.
