FIFA has retrieved the stone base of the original Soccer World Cup trophy from basement storage at its headquarters and it will be exhibited in the new FIFA museum.
Museum creative director David Ausseil said that it was like finding an Egyptian mummy, adding that one cannot put a price tag on it as it was family jewels, Sport24 reported.
The base , which carries the names of the first four World Cup winners, is an octagonal piece of blue semi-precious lapis lazuli stone, he added.
From 1930 to 1970, the Jules Rimet Trophy was awarded to the winner of the World Cup of Football.
Subsequently, the gold statuette was permanently given to Brazil after winning its third title in 1970 before it was stolen in 1983, the report added.
The World Football Museum is scheduled to open in March 2016. (ANI)
