Fever Hospital drain slab restoration to start within 10 days: GHMC

Hyderabad, August 24: GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu on Tuesday informed that the GHMC would start the process of restoration work of major drain slab near Fever Hospital, which collapsed due to heavy rains, within 10 days.

The GHMC Commissioner along with Central Zone Commissioner Ilambarithi, Chief Engineer R. Dhan Singh and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Raghu Prasad visited the area on receipt of reports of collapse of drain slab. He issued instructions for immediate safety measures. A barricading arrangement has been made to mitigate public endanger.

The major drain slab is of 50 – 60 years old; length is 25 feet and does not hold the capacity as it used to be. Keeping in view of the above circumstances GHMC has got sanctioned for remodeling of ‘Nagamaiah Kunta Nala’ with a cost of Rs 11.3 crores. The tenders were called and the work has already been allotted. However, the work got delayed after the local residents approached court.

The GHMC will take up remodeling in due course and will take up the restoration immediately, the Commissioner said.
