Festival of riots

Hyderabad, March 30: With the conclusion of Id-e-Milad celebration, the atmosphere of the entire old city was uneasy as it was felt somewhere that something unusual was bound to happen.

Let me recall the festivities practiced during Id-e-Milad where the entire old city was decorated like a new bride. Even Muslims who belong to the old generation were seen asking the reason of the lavish decoration where money was flowing like water.

The small pamphlet type of religious flags weaved in a row of thread, were also the part of decoration. When the work of decoration was going on, houses of some Hindus were also there who raised no objection. It doesn’t mean that your good self is favouring any particular community.

Then came Ram Navmi. Now it was the turn of Hindus to decorate the city by removing the old religious flags. Here, it was the duty of the Muslim brethren to permit them to do so. After all, the festival of Id-e-Milad was over long back. If the permission had given, the present situation could have been avoided what the city is under in.

There are rumour mongers who say that it was politically decided that city would witness a communal riot, as it is not broken since a very long time. The curfew season is here to stay it seems.

The result is there for every one to see. Mayhem, damage of properties, bloodshed, postponement of SSC exams etc. This is high time that political bigwigs should sit together and chalk out a programme where communal harmony should be given top priority.
