Ferrari will call its upcoming crossover the Purosangue (Italian for thoroughbred), and it’ll arrive by the end of 2022, according to info from the Italian brand’s future product roadmap. This car will be Ferrari’s first-ever vehicle with a five-door body and will be shaped more like a coupe.
The company will base its new models on two architectures, one with a mid-engine layout, the other with a powertrain located up front behind the axle, feeding a transmission on the rear axle.
Riding the SUV-trend that’s a global phenomenon, Ferrari will look to boost its profit with the Purosangue and we’re sure it’ll do really well, especially in countries like China, and Ferrari’s new CEO Louis Carey Camilleri said.
Ferrari will also keep pumping out special edition models with higher performance drivetrains, more advanced technology, limited production runs, and significantly higher price tags than their ‘series production’ cars.
Buyers will be able to choose between a purely internal combustion engine or a hybrid. It’ll be the brand’s first-ever vehicle with a five-door body but will feature a coupe-inspired shape. In terms of size, the machine won’t be as big as the competing Lamborghini Urus.
